Reflection #6

One day at work my employer handed me an interesting article saying that she read it and was shocked at the things mentioned there. Now I must say that I work as a nanny for two beautiful girls, whose mom is not much for political correctness and is not at all uptight.
the title of the article was Monsters Inc. at first I thought the author was a little bit uptight and overprotective of his young daughter because in the first few paragraphs he mentions that he keeps his daughter away from brand names and refer to McDonald's as "the clown" . However after reading the article farther on me realized that the author has a good point. I thought the article was interesting because the author's view of the use of technology completely differed from what we have been talking about in class and he mentioned many negative consequences. Mainly he spoke concerning technology and marketing and the effect it has on a child's brain and performance in life.

  1. It's funny how a person's viewpoint can affect their beliefs and how something as simple as technology can be viewed in two totally different ways. I think it is sad how this man is raising his daughter. Yes, there are things that you need to be careful of, but there are also things that you need to be aware of or exposed to. This article makes me remember how funny people are; we all have our weird streaks,I guess.

  2. Like Hillary said, it is sad that this man is placing a bubble around his daughter. One day when that bubble pops she'll be exposed to so many different things it will overwhelm her.

Especially with technology. With it expanding so much and so fast there is no way his daughter will be able to avoid it forever.
